BrandonClayScouting.com Player Evaluations

Date: May 23, 2015
Evaluator: Jonathan Hemingway
Location: Nike EYBL Session IV (Minneapolis, Minn.)

Smith is a great athlete who is a threat to throw down an alley-oop in the full court anytime he has space. He is a great defender as well as he uses that athleticism to jump out into the passing lanes.  His ball skill could improve and he does not shoot a very high percentage from the field while he finished averaging 11 points per game on the circuit. He was only 7-33 from 3pt range and shot 40% on all FG this year. His FT percentage was 50%.

Smith was awesome here in a gym full of his peers. He played like an ELITE 25 prospect in the class nationally. He might not have the scoring ability of Troy Brown (NV) or DJ Harvey (MD) but Smith can put the ball in the hole. His strength was an asset here as well.

Smith is a strong, athletic option at the wing position. Though he didn’t showcase a specialty, he has a build almost identical to teammate Prince Ali who is two years his senior.
