BrandonClayScouting.com Player Evaluations

Date: June 18, 2016
Evaluator: Brandon Clay
Location: NBPA Top 100 Evals (Charlottesville, VA)

Carey Jr. showed in this setting that he can play either frontcourt position. If he gets to 7 feet then we can consider him a new age center. If not, his game / style still lends itself to playing the 4 alongside a true 7 footer. He’s an active option inside with bounce / athleticism to punish the rim when he gets the ball.

Location: Nike Elite 100 Camp (St. Louis, Mo.)

Carey has alll of the physical tools to be an elite option at the power forward position. He has good size, skill though not displaying an elite specialty in this eval. Carey projects as a prep capable of being a two-game All-American if he’ll continue to develop.

Evaluator: Jonathan Hemingway
Location: Nike Elite 100 Camp (St. Louis, Mo.)

Carey reminds me of PJ Washington. He is a left handed and has the ability to play inside and out. He is a bit taller than Washington, it appears. He will do well to learn from how PJ remained productive on the interior without floating around the arc too much.
