GAINESVILLE, Ga. – Anytime that East Hall and Gainesville meet, Hall County usually packs the house in anticipation. Saturday night was no different as people filed into the East Hall gym. The standing-room only crowd even included former county standouts, Mark Causey and Adrian Penland. Here are some of the takeaways from the action:

Elite Basketball Academy All-American D’Marcus Simonds of Gainesville is a prime candidate for the Atlanta Tipoff Club Mr. Georgia Basketball award in 2016. Simonds, a Mississippi State class of 2016 pledge, excites the crowd even on a slower night offensively. Since the Elite Basketball Academy Top 40 Workout in October, Kyvon Davenport of East Hall has been on a mission. He dropped 35 points on SUVtv last Tuesday scoring his 1,000th career point in the process. The 6-5 class of 2015 power forward has rounded his game out but is still at his most effective on the interior. He made the play of the night when after getting dunked on, he immediately gave it right back to Gainesville on the next possession.
Class of 2015 guard Luke Maddox of Gainesville (GA) is headed to Ole Miss to play childhood essays baseball. For now, he’s comfortable shining on the hardwood. With Simonds out of the game due to an ejection in the fourth quarter, Maddox helped secure the win for the visitors.
Class of 2016 guard Tristan Cooper of East Hall might not be a full-time hooper but it feels like it. The left-handed shooter didn’t hit as many as he did when we saw him about a week ago but drew multiple charges on this night. He knows how to play the game.
Keep an eye on class of 2017 guard Tyler Brown of East Hall. He’s a versatile guard capable of making plays on both ends of the floor. electrician research paper He’s quick with the defensive energy to match.
Also, class of 2018 forward KJ Buffen of Gainesville is a guy who could be the next in the long line of Hall County standouts. His length and athleticism have him on our radar already.
East Hall coach Joe Dix is one of my favorite coaches in the Georgia HS game today. He’s passionate about his team, the program and the entire Rabbittown community. On the other bench, Gainesville coach Benjie Wood has been around our staff almost since the company’s inception 13 years ago. It was a joy to sit court side to watch their teams compete.
