Lashann Higgs of Round Rock, Texas, will head down the street to play at the University of Texas. The five-star point guard is an athletic, skilled option who should provide the Longhorns with another weapon in what is quickly become a loaded arsenal. Here is what we expect Higgs to bring to Karen Aston‘s lineup in the fall of 2015:

1/25/14 – HS Season (Round Rock, Texas) – Brandon Clay
Higgs struggled a bit in the essay about leadership and service first half but got it rolling in the second. She’s a distributor and an athlete with a style that reminds me of South Carolina guard Tiffany Mitchell if she played the point. Her shot mechanics are both compact and smooth but she didn’t take many outside of 15 feet here. She rebounds the ball well from the perimeter.
7/30/12 – Elite 32 Summer Jam II (Augusta, Ga.) – Brandon Clay
Higgs is so smooth with the ball in her hands. She gets into the lane quick going downhill and is a willing passer. She has improved her shot, still can become a dead-eye standstill shooter.
5/12/12 – Nike Skills (Dallas, Texas) – Jonathan Hemingway
She is explosive to the lane off the bounce and a high help in writing research papers level driver, penetrator. Her left hand passing can improve as well as her perimeter jumper.
7-30-11 – Nike Nationals (North Augusta, S.C.) – Keil Moore
Higgs grew up leaps and bounds from this spring to this summer. She was a little passive while displaying a lot of talent in May. She started forcing her talent on opponents by the end of the summer all while consistently making positive plays.
7-19-11 – Basketball in the Bayou (New Orleans, La.) – Keil Moore
She played well here and continues to impress with her savvy and ability for a player her age. One of the elite players in the class at this point.
7-9-11 – AAU Super Showcase (Orlando, Fla.) – Keil Moore
She essay about volunteer in community service was impressive her filling in for injured DFW Washington point guard Curtyce Knox. Has a chance to be a game changer at the point due to her ability to score at all three levels and pass the basketball. Higgs is almost impossible to guard in one on one situations.
5/29/11 – Midwest Showdown (Cincinnati, Ohio) – Brandon Clay
Higgs is a five-star caliber point guard who is capable of hitting the 3-pointer with her feet set. Her build/style reminds me of Odyssey Sims (Baylor sophomore). Higgscan get to the rim and finish! She is athletic enough that she even moves the ball in the air. Off the bounce, she likes to go left and use in & out.
3-28-11 – March Fest (Dallas, Texas) – Keil Moore

She has a chance to be very special. We view her as an elite level athlete with a great feel for the game. Higgs is a true point guard who can beat by running an offense or off the bounce. An area of development will be to remain level throughout tough games. Like most young preps, Higgs can get frustrated with herself and let one mistake spiral into a larger one.
