6/20/14 – NBPA Top 100 Camp (Charlottesville, Va.) – Brandon Clay
Thornton brought his AGame to Virginia showing that he has the vision and the handle to use the pick and roll to score or create. He plays the game like a lefty but shoots the jumper right-handed. He likes to finish at the rim with his left hand. Thornton did struggle on Wednesday night to keep DeAaron Fox in front of him but established himself as a first cut point guard in the rising essay wriritors junior class.

1/18/14 – Hoop Hall Classic (Springfield, Mass.) – Jonathan Hemingway

Thornton played the PG spot for his Findlay Prep team here today. And as Brandon predicted in his eval below, he did a good job of setting up his teammates with the pass. Most of his work was done with the dribble. We did not see the jumper that Brandon saw in Colorado, however his ability to be solid with the ball is exceptional.

10/05/13 – USA Basketball Developmental Mini-Camp (Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Brandon Clay

Thornton’s essay stress frame is slight but he plays big. A right-handed shooter, he can make the open 3-pointer and 17 foot jump shot. He’ll pass to Kelly Oubre Jr. and Rashad Vaughn all high school season as he plays one of the toughest schedules in the country.
