Caleb Swanigan – (Fort Wayne, Ind.), – Homestead Senior Academy – 2015
Height: 6’9″
Position:  Center
Committed College: Purdue

Date: October 3, 2014
Evaluator: Jonathan Hemingway
Location: USA Basketball Mini-Camp (Colorado Springs, Colo.)c
Swanigan is a beast in the paint. That is the easiest way to describe this power player from the Hoosier state. At the Mini-Camp, Swanigan was too muhfo r most of the younger players to check. Weighing in at 260 pounds, he throws his weight around with force and it is often too much for opposing defenders to give an adequate resistance. While themost notable attribute of Swanigan is his physical stature, what will makes him a 5-star prospect is his skill. He showed determination while working on the low block this weekend as he utilized the shot fake against longer opponents. Swanigan showed a nice jump hook in the lane over his left shoulder as well. And when defenders sat on his jump hook, he showed nimble feet to spin back to finish over his right shoulder. He did not show the range on his jumper that others have seen in past months. In a game full of slashing guards, he will need to be a threat on the step outs and I-cuts to be a well rounded post.

Evaluator: Brandon Clay
Location: USA Basketball Mini-Camp (Colorado Springs, Colo.)
Swanigan is a big boy on the interior. Much like my eval from May, he showed that he is a dominant force on the inside. In this eval, he battled with classmate Chase Jeter (NV) and won the war on a couple of occasions. Swanigan relies on his brute strength more times than not but there isn’t much that kids can do with him often.

Date: July 17, 2014
Evaluator: Jonathan Hemingway
Location: Nike EYBL Peach Jam (North Augusta, S.C.)
Swanigan wore a knee brace on his right knee. For the center position he does not have exceptional length, size or athleticism. He makes up for most of that with good skill and strength around the bucket.

Date: May 24, 2014
Evaluator: Brandon Clay
Location: Nike EYBL  (Minneapolis, Minn.)

Swanigan is a legitimate sized prospect in the middle of the floor. He showed nice touch here around the basket and at the free throw line as well. Swanigan lacks great explosion off of floor but is solid across the board.
