Brady O’Connell – (Roswell, Ga.) – Elkins Pointe MS – 2019
Basketball runs in the O’Connell bloodline. Brady’s older brother, Shawn, is a 6-foot-8 freshman at Georgia Southern this year. Brady seems to have that type of future in front of him already as a 5-10 eighth grader. Brady is a left-handed guard who showed good instincts and skill while participating in the skill portion of camp. Although he is taller than average for his age, he already possesses the ability to handle like a guard. His smooth shooting stroke will allow him to be a consistent perimeter threat for years to come. There is still plenty of physical maturing and growth left for Brady. However, if his skill keeps pace with his maturation, he should be a player that we talk about for years to come.
Phillip Venson – (Peachtree City, Ga.) – McIntosh HS – 2015
Venson is another player with basketball in the family bloodline. Bria, Phillip’s sister, is a sophomore at Missouri Southern this year after playing on a high school championship team at Fayetteville High School her senior season. Phillip is now poised to make a name for himself entering his senior campaign. The 6′ guard is a bundle of energy on the floor who makes plays happen on both ends. His ability to hound ball handlers into bad decisions should make him an impact player this season for the Chiefs. Offensively Venson brings that same attacking mentality with the basketball in his hands. He can create plays while driving downhill to the basket or setting teammates up for open shots.
Preston Wiggins – (Cumming, Ga.) – North Forsyth HS – 2018
Wiggins is a good sized wing standing at 6-1 tall. He is currently a spot shooter with good size at his age. Defensively he showed a good understanding of how to defend based upon his understanding of defensive positioning. He even used his size to fight for off-side rebounds on the offensive glass. Currently Wiggins is best suited a third ball handling option in the half court. With maturity and added work in the future, he should round out to become a second ball handling option with the ability to attack the glass with the dribble. All in all, he showed promise as just a freshman here at this All-American Camp.
