Tiara Murphy of South Bend, Ind.,, picked Purdue after visiting the West Lafayette-based campus on multiple occasions over the past three years. The four-star plus point guard is a dynamic option who should excite the fans wearing black and gold. Here is what Murphy brings to Sharon Versyp‘s lineup in the fall of 2015:

Tiara Murphy – Washington HS (South Bend, Ind.) – 2015
Height: 5’7”
Position: Point Guard
Club Team: Spiece Gym Rats
ProspectsNation.com Grade: 4 star plus
Committed College: Purdue
5/24/14 – All Ohio Midwest Showdown (Cincinnati, Ohio) – Brandon Clay
Murphy was big time in a matchup with classmate Haley Gorecki (IL/Duke verbal). We’ve talked about her strength as an area to improve and though I agree with that assessment, she took it right at the bigger Gorecki finishing with contact in the paint on multiple occasions. Murphy also showed her traditional ability to distribute the rock while still hitting timely open jump shots.
7/28/13 – Nike Nationals (Augusta, Ga.,) – Keil Moore Played on and off the ball here. Really think she has to get stronger to maximize her ability. She has a great feel for the game and how to score the ball. Her slight frame can get her in trouble at times. Showed the ability to make big shots here.
5/18/13 – Mid American Challenge (Champaign, Ill.) – Jonathan Hemingway
Murphy had a top ten caliber performance her today. Matching up against Jasmine Lumpkin and the other Mac Irvin guards, Murphy simply did what she wanted to do on the offensive end. She hit long range threes, used terrific hesitation and cross over moves to shred the defense. Her frame is an obvious concern, but here today vs. top flight talent she was still able to score at all 3 levels.
3/17/13 – Showcase of Rising Stars (Noblesville, Ind.) – Brandon Clay
Murphy played like a top shelf point guard in a sophomore class that is full of quality floor generals. She did so by hitting shots from all over the hardwood, threading the needle with passes and dominating the pace of the game on both ends. Though slight build but it is extremely hard for opposing defenders in front of her as she has blazing speed with the basketball in her hands.
7/12/12 – Real Deal in the ‘Ville (Franklin, Tenn.) – Stephen Peck
Murphy sets the tempo with a good handle allows her to get downhill. She has range to 3-point line and is a deadly shooter when left open.
4/28/12 – Nike Skills (Indianapolis, Ind.) – Brandon Clay
Murphy is always good with the ball in her hands. She has a slick handle and is good on the defensive end too. That said she hasn’t added any weight to her frame but is a kid with a slight build that works for her. She was reluctant to pull the trigger on the outside jumper though I’m not sure why, seen her shoot it well on multiple occasions.
9/18/11 – EBA All-American Camp (Suwanee, Ga.) – Brandon Clay
Murphy has good skill. I like her awareness with the ball in her hand. She has been playing her age group and was a little overwhelmed early at the speed of the game with talent like Kaela Davis and Taya Reimer in the gym. Murphy did make the block of the day later on showing her athleticism.
7/13/11 – Real Deal in the ‘Ville (Franklin, Tenn.) – Brandon Clay
She is a top shelf point guard and smart with the ball. Murphy is both quick as well as fundamentally sound. In that regard, she is everything you want a point guard to be as a distributor and shooter.
7-11-11 – Run 4 the Roses (Lexington, Kent.) – Keil Moore
Had a very good showing here. Makes plays and has a very good feel for the game. A lot of her area’s of improvement are things that will come with time and space, getting stronger, making better decisions.
4/1/11 @ Indy Gym Rats Open Gym (Indianapolis, Ind.) – Brandon Clay
Her game reminds me of Dawn Evans (James Madison senior). Not much she can’t do with the ball in her hands, real talent. Hit right handed pull up jumper and a pull back 3 back to back possessions. Can get teammates involved as well. Smooth.
10-2-10 @ USJN (Washington, D.C.) – Keil Moore
Murphy played the point here. Time will tell what position she will move into permanently. Can really score and is quick with the ball in her hands. Has a lot of upside.
7/15/10 @ Battle in the Boro (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) – Brandon Clay
Murphy showed herself as a PG with a nice tight handle. She hits the pullup off the bounce but doesn’t drop the ball to do it. Overall, she has a solid skill set for a young guard.
7-15-10 @ Battle in the Boro (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) – Keil Moore
She’s a smooth guard who can really score the basketball. Has the skill set to be a combo guard, but her ability to score will have her playing the wing as much as possible. Has room to mature physically and will need to over the next four years to maximize her potential.
