D’Marcus Simonds (Buford, Ga.) Buford HS – 2016

Simonds came into the weekend with one more chance to prove that he belonged in the initial BrandonClayScouting.com ELITE60 Rankings. He left Bogan Park on Sunday afternoon doing just that. The 6-foot-4 scoring guard’s ability to make plays off of the bounce is a big reason why he checks in at No. 58 in our initial list. That same ability is also the reason why some of the nation’s top programs including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Memphis, Mississippi State and UConn have offered the 4-star plus rated prospect a scholarship.

Simonds showed growth and progression from his play at the EBA Top 40 Workout in March. He is shooting the basketball better in the midrange and also knocked down a couple of 3-pointers as well. That said Simonds calling card is still is ability to get downhill off of the bounce in a hurry. He finishes well through contact and even displayed a willingness to score the ball from the mid post against ELITE 60 Watch List classmate Jared Harper of Mableton, Ga. Simonds emerged from EBA All-American Camp as one of the premier scoring guards nationally.
