Feature Player

Rebekah Dahlman (Braham, Minn.) – Braham HS – 2013

Growing up, players dream of the day that they’ll score their 1,000th high school point. Some of the nation’s elites even reach the 2,000-point mark. Very few find their way to 3,000. For Dahlman, the nation’s No. 24 ranked senior by the JumpOffPlus.com National Report, 3,000 wasn’t enough as she scored her 4,000th career point in a matchup with Park Center (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) on Saturday. The 5-foot-9 guard has been playing varsity since the seventh grade and averaged just over 35 points per game as a junior last season.

The Vanderbilt signee has one of the more well-rounded skill sets research paper order of authors of any guard in the class nationally. That skill was on full display late in the first half as Dahlman received the inbounds pass, walked the basketball up the floor to use the high screen and roll. As she came off of screen, she attempted a 3-pointer that went in while barely touching the net. Dahlman was fouled on the play and stepped to the line to complete the four-point play en route to a 41-point performance in her team’s victory.

SPOTLIGHT PLAYERS

Nia Coffey (Hopkins, Minn.) – Hopkins HS – 2013
Northwestern picked up a gem in Coffey, getting a 6-1 prospect capable of being the best athlete on the floor most nights in the Big Ten next season. In the night’s primetime game against Olathe Northwest (Kan.), Coffey showed her ability to be a force around the rim, snatching rebounds on both ends out of the air. The left-handed swing-forward is at her best inside of 15 feet where she can use her athletic ability to get to the basket and make a play.

Carlie Wagner (New Richfield, Minn.) – NRHEG – 2014
Wagner is one of the stress management essay nation’s top prospects not on the major club circuit during the course of the summer. Her game reminds us of the aforementioned Dahlman as Wagner can score the basketball from just about anywhere inside of 25 feet. Her ability to score the basketball is uncanny as she hit tough shots at the rim, in the midrange and from beyond the arc. The 5-9 combo guard played both on and off the basketball during the course of the game versus Chaska leaving no doubt that she is amongst the premier juniors statewide.

AROUND THE RIM

Kenisha Bell of Bloomington, Minn., stole the show during her team’s matchup with Mason City (Iowa) and their star guard Jadda Buckley . Bell, a top 50 caliber junior guard, was originally committed to Minnesota but has re-opened her recruitment.

South Dakota State was in the building to see their future post player Ellie Thompson of Chaska, Minn. In Thompson, the are getting a legitimate 6-1 class of 2014 power forward with the skill to nursing essay help be effective inside or outside.

Cayla McMorris of Brooklyn Park, Minn., had a nice day finishing with 35 points in a close loss to Braham. Both DePaul and Iowa State were on hand to see the 6-foot junior forward. McMorris has elevated her stock amongst schools in large part due to her developing skill set.

Savanna Trapp of Esko, Minn., was the tallest player in the gym on Saturday. The UCLA signee stands at 6-8 and does a great job using her height to affect shot attempts without fouling the offensive player. Though she has a slight frame given her height, it’s apparent that Trapp has been able to add some weight since our last eval during the summer.
