SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The second annual ShesBallin.com Evaluation Camp brought 120 prospects looking to showcase their skills to the forefront. Here’s a look at some of the upperclass prospects who made an impression with their play.

Feature Player

Amber Ramirez (San Antonio, Texas) – Wagner HS – 2016
Ramirez was outstanding here on the offensive end of the floor making play after play in the open floor with the basketball in her hand. The 5-foot-7 point guard is one of the best that our staff has seen to date in the freshmen class. The way that she handles the basketball is uncanny while Ramirez also showed that she can hit the mid-range pull-up jumper coming off of either hand. Her ability to change directions quickly then make the correct shot or pass read led to our staff nicknaming her “Sauce” at a camp last summer.

Ramirez’ willingness to get teammates involved with her passing is uncanny as she loves to make the extra pass on the fast break. On the defensive end, Ramirez still has to work on jumping off of the ball when she’s on the help side away from the action. If she adds that to her game, the future is bright for the dynamic floor general.

SPOTLIGHT PLAYERS

Kianna Ray (Austin, Texas) – Bowie HS – 2016

A left-handed forward, Ray is a versatile prospect who projects to play either forward position at the next level. Right now, she is at her best making plays around the rim off missed shots and knocking down the face-up jumper. Here it seemed that she was in the mix on every play regardless of the end of the floor where the action occurred. Standing 6-0, Ray will have to get stronger to take contact and still finish at the collegiate level. Working on using her right hand to create driving opportunities on that side of the floor will be important to her development as well. That said her skill set is coming along quite nicely.

Jada Underwood (Mesquite, Texas) – Mesquite Horn HS – 2016
Simply put, Underwood is a monster on the interior. The 5-11 forward is a powerful option with solid ball skill to boot. We project her as a matchup nightmare who can be very effective from the power forward position. She is strong with a build that reminds our staff of 2014 post Erica Moore of Ind. Like Moore, Underwood gets seemingly every rebound and has the touch to score the basketball consistently as well.

AROUND THE RIM

Unsigned senior Jackie Anderson of San Antonio, Texas, was impressive today. The 5-9 guard plays hard on both ends of the floor and can knock down the open shot as well. She is a high academic kid with a 4.0 GPA and over a 1700 score on her SAT.

Avery Queen of Bourne, Texas, has picked up three scholarship offers in the past two weeks. A 6-2 junior post, Queen is the epitome of a do-it-all prospect. She will rebound, defend, run the floor and finish on the other end in transition.

Joyner Holmes of Cedar Hill, Texas, is sure to turn heads on the club circuit over the course of the summer. A physically impressive prospect, Holmes will run the floor to score at the rim in transition then knock down the trail jump shot on the next possession. The 6-4 freshman forward does a little of everything and will be in the discussion as one of the best players at her position in the region, if not nationally.

ArLeighshya McElroy of Sunnyvale, Texas, is a powerful freshman guard who plays the game the as hard as any perimeter prospect that we’ve seen in her the class to date. McElroy has worked on her skill set since we saw her last summer, adding the consistent ballhandling against pressure in the halfcourt that she lacked last year.

Mikayla Christian and Jordan Moore are both from Round Rock, Texas, and team up with the aforementioned Ray in the summer for Austin Elite. Christian is a table setting guard who can create shots for her teammates while Moore is a legitimate post presence known to finish well on the interior.
