In 1977, the first McDonald’s All American® Boys Team was named. Headlining the squad were future NBA superstar Earvin “Magic” Johnson. The Team participated in the Capital Classic in Washington, D.C. against an all-star team from the Washington – Maryland – Virginia area. Meanwhile, Madison Square Garden was the site for the inaugural McDonald’s All American® Girls Game in 2002. The addition of the McDonald’s All American® Girls Teams only added to the rich tradition of the event. Since its’ inception, the McDonald’s All American® game has developed into the preeminent postseason contest nationally.
