NASHVILLE – Vanderbilt will take on Dayton at home today looking to snap a two-game losing streak. The Commodores will try to keep the Flyers from scoring the basketball quickly and often as they like to do. We’ll keep a running blog of our thoughts from the game.

2:02 pm – Vanderbilt with a slow start offensively here but their matchup zone has kept Dayton from getting off to a good start.

2:05 pm – Highly touted Fr. Post Marques Webb gets Vandy on the board.

2:10 pm – Sr. Guard Christina Foggie hits a 3-pointer to get in on the action.

2:11 pm – Foggie finishes a layup in transition.

2:13 pm – Another highly touted Fr. Forward Kylee Smith finishes with a 17 foot jumper to get on the board.

2:19 pm – A class of 2013 HS All-American, Fr. Guard Rebekah Dahlman gets involved with a 17 foot jumper of her own.

2:23 pm – Dahlman comes right back with a 3-pointer to make it 18-12.

2:26 pm – So. Post Heather Bowe makes a shot on the interior.

2:31 pm – Foggie with another 3-pointer. There’s a reason why she was an ELITE 50 caliber prospect in high school. She can really score it. 24-19 Vandy.

2:35 pm – Dahlman hits two free throws after being fouled on the drive. 26-19

2:43 pm – Webb gets back on the board with an And1 finish and the free throw. 33-23 Vandy at the half.

SECOND HALF

3:03 pm – Bowe comes out with a crisp 17 footer to open up the second half scoring. 35-23 Vandy.

3:05 pm – Jenkins hits a long 3-pointer from the corner. 38-25 Vandy.

3:12 pm – Foggie back at it again still killing Dayton with the 3-point shot.

3:14 pm – So. Forward Morgan Batey has been splitting time with Smith as a swing forward on the roster. She scored on a nice 12 foot pull up jumper.

3:15 pm – And another one…Foggie has Vandy on the verge of running away with this one. 50-31.

3:17 pm – Dahlman with a 3-pointer of her own makes it 53-33 with 11:47 to go in the family history essay game.

3:20 pm – Sr. Guard Jasmine Lister finishes a bucket at the rim. She gives them great play at the point.

3:22 pm – Batey knocks down a couple of free throws to make it 57-38 with just under 10 mins to play.

3:25 pm – Batey with another basket. She’s given the Dores quality minutes with her play today.

3:26 pm – On cue, Batey scores again at the rim. 61-42

3:27 pm – Webb scores with another possible And1 coming right after the under 8-minute media timeout.

3:32 pm – Batey has been an impact player in the second half making two free throws to make it 68-45.

3:37 pm – Dahlman makes two free throws of her own as she now has 17 points on the night. Vanderbilt has really made it tough for Dayton to score the ball.
