LOS ANGELES – Coach Cori Close is in the process of building the UCLA program into one of the nation’s finest. The Bruins are hosting Pac 12 league opponent tonight at Pauley Pavilion. We’ll document our thoughts throughout the game.

FIRST HALF

20:00 – UCLA has battled the injury bug all season long. They’ll play tonight with seven scholarship players.

18:15 – Thea Lemberger gets the Bruins on the scoreboard. The skilled guard has some “sauce” to her handle.

16:30 – Sr. Post Atonye Nyingifa is another mainstay in the Bruins starting lineup. She rebounds the ball as well as anyone in the league not named Chiney Ogwumike. She finished here to make it 4 to 4.

14:20 – I remember watching So. Guard Nirra Fields as a high school prospect. She could score it then. She can score it now scoring two at the rim on a nice finger roll finish. It’s 8 to 6 Colorado.

10:45 – UCLA is really locking down on the defensive end. They get a rebound and Lemberger gets a clean look at the rim to finish making it 8 to 8 going into the 12-min media time-out.

6:40 – Jr. Guard Madeline Brooks is on the board now. It’s 17 to 15 Bruins.

3:45 – Nyingifa makes one of two from the line to cut the deficit to 18-17.

2:55 – RS Jr. Post Corinne Costa sticks a 16 foot jump shot to keep UCLA down a point 21 to 20.

1:00 – UCLA lost both Nyingifa and Fields to foul trouble as they both have two. Colorado has stretched the lead to 28 to 20.

:10 – Jr. Post Luiana Livulo makes two free throws to cut it to 28 to 22.

HALFTIME SCORE: Colorado 30-22

SECOND HALF

17:20 – Lemberger is so smooth with the handle as she finds her way into the lane for another floater. 32 to 24 Colorado.

12:25 – Livulo adds a point to the lead with a free throw. 37 to 35 UCLA.

11:16 – Fields with another MEAN step back jump shot off of her right hand in the face of a Colorado defender. Fields got fouled on the play as well. She completes another 3-point play making it 40 to 39 UCLA.

10:25 – Fields is locked in so far tonight as she banks a jump shot from 17 feet giving her 16 on the night.

9:27 – Livulo has provided quality minutes on the interior for the home team. She hits a 15 foot jump shot off a nice pass from Williams.

7:49 – Nyingifa makes two free throws and pushes the lead out to 48 to 39.

7:05 – Guess who? It’s Fields again finishing at the rim. 50 to 41 UCLA.

4:10 – Fields picks up her fourth foul on a defensive play in transition.

2:10 – Livulo breaks an almost four-minute scoring drought for the Bruins with two free throws and it’s 54 to 53 UCLA.

:17 – Fields get back on the board with a coast to coast drive to finish. She completes her third 3-point play of the night. She has 23 points. UCLA down 59 to 57.

:8 – Lemberger finishes at the basket to cut the deficit to a one point gap at 60-59.

FINAL SCORE: Colorado 61-59
