Plum is a shade of purple, so perhaps it is fitting that Kelsey Plum, the No. 26 prospect in the country, picked the Purple and Gold of the University of Washington as her future college home.  The 5-foot-8 point guard from Poway, Calif., made her commitment to the Huskies just a day after capping off her club ball career with the Wiggins Waves with a 42-point explosion against the Cal Swish.  Her decision headlines a busy Monday of commitments.

Plum, who also considered Cal and Gonzaga, made a visit to the Seattle, Wash., campus this past weekend, the last of her three official visits.

Plum, a consummate winner, is highest ranked point guard on the west coast and is highly touted for her ability to make plays with thesis statement of an essay the pass as well as score.  But for some reason she embodies the role of underdog despite success and a national ranking, a mentality that only seems to make her better.

“Being overlooked is one of the greatest things,” Plum said.  “It gives me joy in basketball when they pick everyone else and ‘Oh I guess I’ll take No. 10, the small white girl.  You have nothing to lose.”

Plum is looking to take a page out of her older sister’s book.  Lauren Plum, who is the junior setter for Oregon’s second-ranked volleyball team, chose the up and coming ducks before they were knocking off Pac-12 perennial powerhouses.

“She had her choice of places to go,” Plum said of her sister, who was a top 50 recruit coming out of high school.  “Last year they got knocked out in the first round and now they homework alabama are No. 2 in the country.”

With Plum on board, Kevin McGuff’s program lands its second top-100 prospect in the 2013 She joins 6-2 post Chantel Osahor of Phoenix, Ariz., who carries the No. 71 ranking.  The anterior-cruciate ligament tear suffered by 2012 signee and McDonald’s All-American Katie Collier, a 6-3 forward, effectively gives Washington three impact players in next year’s freshman class.

“I connect well with the players there,” Plum said.  “I Coach (Kevin) McGuff and Coach (Mike) Neighbors are really going to help my game develop.”

Plum’s commitment cuts the number of undecided players in the top 30 of the 2013 class to just 16 as the mid-November signing week inches closer.

AROUND THE RIM

No. 49 Roshunda Johnson to OSU:  The 5-7 point guard from Little Rock, Ark., gives Oklahoma State one of the best perimeter defenders in the class.  Johnson, who narrative essay writing powerpoint played with DFW T-Jack Elite during the club season, gives the Cowgirls two commitments in the 2013 class.  She joins 6-0 forward Katelyn Loecker of McPherson, Kan., the No. 66 prospect in the class.

Tyseanna Johnson picks Iowa State: The 5-10 wing-guard is coming off an outstanding summer and Johnson gave her verbal pledge to the Cyclones this weekend while on an official visit.  The four-star prospect is the third player to commit in the class.  She joins Jadda Buckley of Mason, Iowa, a 5-8 point guard, and Jordan Jenson of Gilbert, Ariz., a 6-3 post.

Paige Cashin to South Florida: The 6-4 post from Newark, Ohio, gives South Florida size, rebounding, good feet and soft hands in the paint.  She joins Floridians Trimaine McCullough and Jayla King in the Bulls 2013 recruiting haul.  McCullough is ranked in the top 100 while King and Cashin both write essays for money australia carry three-star ratings.
