Eastern has good size at the wing spot. He’s struggled a bit with minor injuries throughout his high school career but was rolling here. He made a nice pocket pass to Livers on the roll. Eastern is a solid producer averaging 7 points, 4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 8 EYBL games. He’s only shooting 20 percent from beyond the arc, 67 percent from the line and 45 percent from the field.

Eastern is an athlete, first and foremost. I believe he is the type of player who can be effective without a defined position on the floor. However, he is best off of the ball and in driving situations. Impressively, he did a good job of distributing off of the drive. His jumper still has some work left, but he will hit a fair percentage when left open.

Unlike my May eval, Eastern played off the ball here like he did in Jon’s eval below. In this role, he actually showed more long term potential. He is a good athlete who plays with energy. Eastern showed the skill to get downhill in the side ball screen set. At times he has a tendency to dance left to right when he’s in a one on one situation. We didn’t see Eastern take an open jump shot in this eval.

Eastern played off of the ball in the game that I watched here today. The left handed athlete rebounded the ball exceptionally well from the guard spot. He has strong hands and good body control on the drive. He used a series of jab steps and quick crossovers to create space here today. He understands angles and hit the open 3 today. Will be interesting to to watch his game to see if he is a PG or SG longterm.

Eastern is a fast point guard from end-to-end. He played some quality minutes here though not displaying a skill specialty.
