BrandonClayScouting.com Player Evaluations

Date: May 29, 2016
Evaluator: Brandon Clay
Location: Nike EYBL Session IV (Suwanee, Ga.)

McCoy is legitimate option in the middle of the defense. His presence allows Cal Supreme to play Deandre Ayton on the back wing of the 2-3. McCoy has a build similar to LaMarcus Aldridge but his skill set isn’t as advanced as Aldridge even at Texas. McCoy is averaging 16.6 points, 8.6 rebounds in EYBL play. He’s shooting 66 percent from the free throw line, 52 percent from the field.

Date: June 18, 2015
Evaluator: Jonathan Hemingway
Location: NBPA Top 100 Camp (Charlottesville, Va.)

McCoy reminds me of Tony Bradley while standing at a legit 7 feet tall. He contests shots in the paint and can rebound in his area. He finished effectively around the rim vs. pressure while also facing the basket at times in the horns set.

McCoy is a center who will work to post on the inside. He has good bounce around the rim. He has a 4 player length / build based on this eval. McCoy is a rebounder by specialty.

McCoy has legitimate next level, elite school size on the interior. I didn’t see him showcase a specific specialty in this eval. That said McCoy will run the floor and play around the rim.

McCoy is a center with long arms who uses that length to block and affects shots on the defensive end. He is a solid weakside rebounder who is a tip dunk threat if not blocked out. Offensively he is unpolished and is not a primary offensive target. He finished the circuit averaging 6 points and 5 rebounds.
