MINNEAPOLIS – For the second straight December, the Breakdown Tip-Off Classic showcased itself as possibly the nation’s premier single-day event featuring boys and girls games in the country. Held inside the Hopkins Lindbergh Center, it featured multiple scholarship prospects. Here is our take on three of the premier underclassmen from the event:

Tre Jones (Apple Valley, Minn.), Apple Valley HS – 2018

After receiving limited minutes on this stage as an eighth grader, Jones is off to a great start filling the essay on my pet dog in marathi shoes of last year’s Apple Valley point guard. That young man, Tyus Jones, just happens to be Tre’s older brother. Like Tyus for Duke against Wisconsin last Wednesday night, Tre showed a cool moxy on a big stage that is reserved underclassmen. He finished multiple big plays down the stretch allowing Apple Valley to come away with a win. As his body continues to fill out, we won’t be surprised to see him emerge as both a BrandonClayScouting.com ELITE 25 ranked prospect as well as a top flight point guard in the freshman class nationally.

Connor McCaffery (Iowa City, Iowa), Iowa City West HS – 2017

After committing earlier this fall to play at Iowa for his father, Fran, Connor came into the night’s marquee matchup focused. In a game with the home team Hopkins HS, McCaffery was on point from the opening tip making plays even though his shot wasn’t falling consistently. He’s got the size and skill to be effective in the Big Ten not to mention all the advanced basketball that he’s been around at an early age. We expect him to be a prospect firmly in the discussion as we expand to education argumentative essay 60 in the BrandonClayScouting.com ELITE Rankings during the 2015 calendar year.

Gary Trent Jr. (Apple Valley, Minn.), Apple Valley HS – 2017

The nation’s No. 25 ranked prospect in the BrandonClayScouting.com ELITE 25, Trent Jr. sent his initial statement to our staff with his play here last December. Since then, we also saw the 6-4 sophomore shooting guard at the Nike Elite 100 Camp in June. As was the case in the previous two evaluations, he made his biggest impact as standstill shooter making multiple 3-pointers during the home stretch of this one. He’s athletic enough to make plays on both college paper writing ends of the floor and should be a prospect that high major schools near and far recruit before it’s all over.
