LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Archer High School is quickly becoming one of the top programs inside of Gwinnett County. We were in the building for a marquee matchup against region rival Dacula. The student section was hype and ready to go. Here’s our take from the night:

1) Kevon Tucker has now, he’s not waiting on next.

Tucker, a 6-foot-3 junior guard, showed out at EBATop40 Workout in October. The scoring guard played with power on both ends Tuesday night finishing with 16 points and eight rebounds in a region win. His ability to create quality shots at the essay on e service rim or in the midrange is impressive. Tucker’s recruitment matches his game as Charleston, Charleston Southern, Charlotte, Georgia State, Georgia Tech and Tulsa have all been mentioned as potential destinations.

2) Aleem Ford is a smooth operator.

Like Tucker, Ford took full advantage of the stage that EBATop40 provided showing range out beyond the 3-point line. That’s no easy feat for a 6-7 swing forward but Ford was up for the challenge. On this night, he was back at it making plays on both ends even getting around the rim to finish baskets in traffic. An unsigned senior, Ford is one of the more versatile forwards left inside the state of Georgia and a must recruit for colleges still needing a player in that mold.

AROUND THE RIM

Isaiah Daugherty and Darrion Taylor give Archer coach Tim Watkins a serious tandem in the backcourt. Both can get into the paint to score the basketball or distribute to open teammates for a basket as well.Taylor made the move of the night with a MEAN open floor counter move that shook a Dacula defender out of his shoes then finished a layup to set the crowd off. Look for them both at EBA Top 40 Workout on March 8th.

Dacula guard Keshaun Gibbs is no stranger to the OTRHoopsReport.com evaluation staff. He’s a strong guard capable of getting to the rim to make good things happen essay on cell phones for coach Russ Triaga and Company. With the Archer student section in his ear all night, the senior guard calmly just did what he does finishing with 19 points.

Coupled with the aforementioned Ford, Rhiann Mann brings length to the frontline. He blocks shots but more importantly alters opposing drivers as they attack the rim.

Derek St. Hilaire plays the game with speed, energy and skill. He showed the prowess to “get buckets” finishing with a quick 18 on the night for Dacula.

The other key piece to the Archer’s puzzle is Kwei Lartey. His strong frame and willingness to mix it up makes him an important piece to Archer’s success this year. He finished with 25 points on this night in a variety define definition essay of ways. He and Mann have a chance to showcase their skill on March 8th as well.

It was good to see assistant Joel Lecoeurve manning the sidelines for the Tigers. He coaches the same way he played the game for North Gwinnett in the late 90’s: intense and with laser-like focus.
