Dedric Lawson – (Memphis, Tenn.), – Team Penny – 2015
Height: 6’9″
Position:  Small Forward
Committed College: Memphis

Evaluator: Jonathan Hemingway
Location: Nike EYBL  Peach Jam (North Augusta, S.C.)

I like Brandon’s eval to say that he has the skill to play 2-4. He has a pro build and the skill to match already. He has a good feel for the game, much more so than his brother. What I like about Dedric is what concerns me about him long term as well. He does not have exert a lot of effort to be productive. But I wonder about his mental make up at times. In a game here this week, he was visibly shaken by something. It obviously hurt his production in that particular game. He has the talent to be a top 5 player in this class, I hope his mental make up does not prevent him from becoming that.

Lawson is a lean forward who again here showed the skill to play the 2 through the 4. He shot the 3-pointer, finished in the lane even using a reverse to avoid the shot blocker inside.

Lawson showed here that his game is versatile with the ability to play the 2, 3 or even the 4. His release on the 3-pointer is smooth. He hit multiple shots here while finishing with contact inside against the Oakland Soldiers frontline.

Lawson is a talented and skilled wing with excellent ball handling ability for a player his size. Lawson made plays by slashing to the basket and floating along the baseline. He also showcased the ability to knock down three pointers from beyond the arc. He rebounds on both ends of the floor and can grab a defensive rebound and go coast to coast or stop and pop for a deep three. This 6-foot-8 forward also likes to post smaller defenders on the right low block and elevate to score over his right shoulder.
