Jakolby Long – (Edmond, Okla.), Athletes First – 2016
Height: 6’4″
Position: Shooting Guard
Committed College: Iowa State
Star Grade:
zzz---4half-star-(1)

Date: May 25, 2015
Evaluator: Jonathan Hemingway
Location: Nike EYBL (Minneapolis, MN)

Long has a power game where he can attack the defense and overpower defenders with his strength. He is a high energy guy who produces on both ends of the floor. He could be one of the best rebounding wings nationally. He averaged close to 16 points and 5 rebounds per game. His 34% field goal percentage is concerning. Especially considering he shoots about the same percentage from the arc.<p>

Long is a powerful option at the wing position. The left-handed swingman made a mark at this same event last spring. Though  he hit a 3, Long has a flat release on his jumper. He makes an impact by attacking the lane and is a specialist in that regard.

Long showed much of the same as in Minnesota as a strong guard off the ball. The release on his left-handed jump shot was flat here as well but goes in. He makes plays with his power similar to Rayjon Tucker (NC-15) but isn’t as explosive at the rim. Long also knocked down the 17 footer here as well.

Long is an athletic option at the wing spot. The left-hand dominant wing made plays by shooting the 3-pointer with his feet set and off the bounce in straight lines as well.

Location: Nike EYBL (Hampton, Va.)

Long is a power wing who will shoot the 3pt jumper with his feet set. He uses his big frame to get to the rim although being a good athlete not an elite one. He was very effective playing off of Allonzo Trier’s creativity.
