Giles III separated himself as the premier prospect in the class, regardless of position, this weekend. His versatility and ability to impact on both ends of the floor make him a prospect who can move the needle for a NCAA Championship contender. He worked the pick-and-roll action as both the screener and the handler today. He finished at the rim and hit the jumper off the screening action. He also showed remarkable ball-handling skill around ball screens and in the open floor. This type of skill from a 6-11 player is not seen in every class. He hit running jump hooks and swatted shots in the paint. On the circuit season, he averaged 18 points and 11 rebounds showing that he can do produce over a period of time.

Giles III is showing himself to be one of the premier players nationally regardless of class. He has the length to be a shot blocker inside and the skill to be effective in the trail slot on the perimeter. Giles III is a distributor from the power forward position as well as a post scorer.

When Giles is locked in, there may not be a more impactful player to the game in his class. His performance versus Mater Dei on day 2 was one for the ages as he scored 29 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and swatted 5 shots.  He is complemented by superb feet and soft hands. His quick jumping ability plus his power make him a prototypical power forward.

Giles shows no ill affects of the knee injury in this showing. He is mobile big who can protect the rim while also providing an offensive scoring punch on the opposite end. Giles even showed range on his jumper leaving many to believe that he will become a versatile inside-out threat in years to come. With that said, Diamond Stone’s (WI-15) skill set is noticeably more polished than Giles at this moment. Stone has the go-to and counter moves that Giles  will need to develop in the next 12 months to become that type of threat.

Even after an ACL injury suffered last summer, Giles III is back looking like a premier prospect in the class of 2016. He went toe-to-toe production wise with Jayson Tatum (MO-16) in this matchup. Giles III posts big to score the ball and has real skill in that area. He is a shot changer/blocker on the defensive end who will rebound it as well.
