Gilbert is such an explosive point guard. He was competing against some of the nation’s best as shined as one of the best at the position. Gilbert is a strong option who can score and distribute the ball. Over the past 12 months, he’s developed as a true point guard position.

Despite not shooting the ball that well today, Gilbert was one of the top point guards on the circuit. He averaged 15 points and 5 assists for the year. His 41% and 33% shooting percentages are modest, but he is an effective play-maker off the drive. He does a good job of finding the open teammate in the half-court.

Gilbert is a combo guard who is scoring minded. He loves to push the tempo and get  in the lane to score. He is equally effective shooting 3’s as he is hitting floaters. He is equally as pesky at hounding the ball handlers on the defensive end. The one knock on him is that he is undersized. He will have to demonstrate to me that he can balance running a team and scoring the way Evans (see Brandon’s eval below) has done this year.

Gilbert was awesome here. I see him along the lines of Jawun Evans (TX-15) as a 5 star caliber point guard capable of scoring the ball as well. He can create with his speed, athleticism and finishes at the rim in traffic consistently.

Gilbert is a volume scorer but with point guard size. He has infinite confidence in his ability to score the ball and should based on his body of work this season. He hits the 3-pointer, midrange and gets to the rim. Can he lead an elite team at the point?

Gilbert has unreal quickness, and can penetrate and get wherever he wants on the court. Gilbert is a scorer, He is a good outside shooter and with his speed and quickness he will be a tough guard in college. This 5-foot-10 guard plays extremely hard, competes on every play and is a tough kid. Gilbert could have some issues with his size and strength early in his college career.

Gilbert had an extraordinary performance tonight by scoring 34 points on six 3-pointers. His ability to drive and create has been seen, but his ability to shoot puts him in another category. He was Miller Grove’s best player on the floor, not only because of his ability to score but because he simply got everyone involved and made the right play at the right moment.

Gilbert may have been the most promising player on the floor this evening for either squad. The smaller point guard is strong, quick and explosive with the ball  in the open court. He showed flashes of being a terrific play-maker. His area of improvements lay in his ability to not get out of control especially in high tempo, high pressure situations. He showed a tendency to try to bully his way through traps rather than back dribble and attack with a change of tempo. He has all the tools to be a one of the better PG in the state of Georgia in his class. In 1/1 situations, he is as tough as anyone to guard.
